Markus Storz begins developing herbal hot air generators in 1996 and continuously optimizes his technology. In 1999, the VOLCANO patent for the detachable balloon is granted.
2000
The first VOLCANOs come to market.
The VOLCANO is the first fully functional herbal hot air generator.
Scientists begin studies on vaporization, the VOLCANO becomes the "gold standard" and is still the preferred hot air generator for studies.
2002
Jürgen Bickel joins as a partner and STORZ & BICKEL GmbH & Co. KG is founded.
2003
The first 110-volt devices are built for the American market, leading to rapid growth.
2005
The subsidiary STORZ & BICKEL America, Inc. is founded in Oakland, CA.
2007
The VOLCANO DIGIT, the first electronically controlled hot air generator from STORZ & BICKEL, comes to market.
2009
STORZ & BICKEL receives certification for a quality management system according to ISO 13485, thus fulfilling the essential requirement for manufacturing medical devices.
2010
The VOLCANO MEDIC, the world's first medical herbal hot air generator, is certified and released. It is marketed in Europe, Canada, and Israel under the VAPORMED brand.
2011
The PLENTY, an exceptionally powerful handheld device, is launched. It is the first hot air generator with combined convection and conduction (internationally patented).
2014
The CRAFTY and MIGHTY, STORZ & BICKEL's first battery-powered devices, are launched simultaneously.
They are the most powerful vaporizers of their kind and the world's first vaporizers with vibration unit, cooling unit with foldable mouthpiece. The CRAFTY can be controlled via Bluetooth and app with a smartphone.
2015
The MIGHTY MEDIC, the first battery-powered medical herbal vaporizer, is certified and launched. STORZ & BICKEL is currently the world's leading manufacturer of medical vaporizers.
2016
STORZ & BICKEL builds the world's first factory for the production of medical herbal vaporizers in Tuttlingen; a German city with almost 500 medical device manufacturers, known as the center of medical technology.
2019
Since the introduction of the VOLCANO, STORZ & BICKEL has continuously modernized and improved the world's leading desktop vaporizer: The VOLCANO HYBRID is launched and features improved airflow control, faster heat-up times, touch display, app control with Bluetooth connection, and a state-of-the-art dual inhalation system via valve balloon or tube.
The battery-powered, portable CRAFTY is revised and the CRAFTY+ is launched. It offers an improved design that enhances efficiency and overall performance.
2020
STORZ & BICKEL's "flagship product," the VOLCANO CLASSIC, turns 20 years old!
To celebrate, STORZ & BICKEL releases the VOLCANO CLASSIC Gold Edition. In addition, Markus Storz & Jürgen Bickel meet to talk about the beginnings of the VOLCANO.
The legendary VOLCANO continues to dominate the market after 20 years as one of the most powerful devices in the field.
2021
The unique S&B Vapor Factory is expanded with a west wing. The expansion covers 3,720 m² (40,042 ft²) and is mainly used for new production lines.

The VENTY is our fastest and most powerful portable device, with only 20 seconds heat-up time and an airflow of up to 20 liters per minute.
2025
To celebrate 25 years of legendary performance and innovation, STORZ & BICKEL presents the VOLCANO CLASSIC 25 Years Edition in a new green tone with gold-plated accents and an exclusive "25 Years Volcano" inscription.
In September 2025, the VEAZY will be launched. It is S&B's latest vaporizer and the most compact vaporizer ever in our product range – available in four vibrant colors: Alluring Black, Dynamic Blue, Inspiring Orange, and Charming Pink.
